Privacy Policy
What we collect, why, who sees it, and how to get it back or delete it.
The short version
- We collect only the operational data required to facilitate the Platform. No extraneous or unrelated personal data is collected.
- Your exact address is shared only after you confirm a booking. Map locations are blurred by about 300 metres.
- Identity documents are used for verification, stored privately, and never shown on a public profile.
- We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for someone else's advertising.
- You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, or have your account deleted.
1. Who we are
The Platform is owned, operated and maintained by NEURALPATH TECHNOLOGIES, trading as Petlife (the "Company"), a company incorporated under the laws of the Republic of India. The Company's sole address for service is the electronic mail address specified in Clause 2.1A of the Terms & Conditions. For the purposes of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the Company is the Data Fiduciary in respect of the personal data described herein.
The designated point of contact for all data protection correspondence is info@petlifeindia.co. This Policy is incorporated by reference into, and is to be read conjointly with, the Terms & Conditions and the Platform Disclaimer.
This policy covers the Petlife website at petlifeindia.co and the Petlife mobile app.
2. What we collect
When you create an account
- Name, mobile number, email address and password.
- Profile photo, if you add one.
- Your role: Pet Parent, Pet Buddy, or both.
About your pets
- Name, species, breed, age, photos.
- Vaccination dates, medical conditions, medication, allergies and behavioural notes, where you choose to add them so a Pet Buddy can care for your pet properly.
If you list as a Pet Buddy
- Services, pricing, working hours and service area.
- An official government identity document for verification (see section 5).
- Professional credentials or certificates you choose to submit.
When you use the platform
- Bookings, messages sent through in-app chat, reviews and ratings.
- Approximate location, if you grant location permission (see section 4).
- Device and log information: IP address, device type, browser, app version, and pages or screens viewed.
When you use a form on this website
- Contact form: name, email, optional phone, topic and message.
- Pet Buddy application: name, service, phone, email, city or area, years of experience and any notes.
- Job application: name, phone, email, role, experience level, your résumé file and your profile details.
3. Why we use it
- To create and run your account.
- To show you Pet Buddies near you, and to show Pet Buddies the requests relevant to them.
- To enable bookings, booking codes, in-app chat and reviews.
- To verify identity and reduce fraud and impersonation.
- To send service messages: booking confirmations, reminders including vaccination reminders, and security notices.
- To respond when you contact us or apply for a role.
- To investigate reports, enforce our Terms & Conditions, and keep animals and people safe.
- To understand which parts of the product are used, so we can improve them.
- To meet legal and regulatory obligations.
Marketing messages are optional. If you opt in, you can opt out at any time from your notification settings or the unsubscribe link, without losing access to service messages.
4. Location and addresses
Location permission is optional. If you grant it, we use your approximate location to find Pet Buddies near you and to show distances. You can withdraw the permission at any time in your device settings and continue to use Petlife by searching manually.
We deliberately blur locations on the map by roughly 300 metres, so nobody can work out where you or a Pet Buddy actually lives from a listing.
Your exact address is shared only after you confirm a booking, and only with the Pet Buddy attending it.
5. Identity documents
Pet Buddies submit an official government identity document, such as Aadhaar or an equivalent government-issued ID, so we can verify who they are before their profile goes live.
- These documents are used only for identity verification and fraud prevention.
- They are stored in restricted, private storage and are never shown on a public profile.
- Pet Parents see only a "Govt ID checked" badge, never the document or its number.
- We ask you to mask or redact any Aadhaar number before uploading; we do not need the full number and do not store it in your profile.
- Access is limited to the small team who carry out verification, and to disclosures required by law.
7. We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We do not share it with data brokers, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising.
8. Retention and erasure
- Account data: while your account is open. If you delete your account from Profile → Delete Account, your personal and pet data is erased at that point, not held for a grace period. Deletion is permanent: there is no restore, and signing up again starts a brand-new account. We keep only the mandatory items listed at Clause 17.7 of the Terms & Conditions — chiefly what the law requires, the minimum booking and rating record belonging to the person you dealt with, and anything covered by a live dispute.
- Booking and payment-dispute records: up to 3 years, or longer where the law requires.
- Identity documents: only as long as needed to keep verification valid, then deleted.
- Website form submissions: up to 2 years.
- Job applications and résumés: up to 1 year, unless you ask us to delete them sooner or agree we may keep them for future openings.
- Reviews: reviews may remain visible after an account closes, shown without identifying details.
Erasure is subject to overriding obligations. Upon receipt of a valid and duly authenticated deletion request from either a Pet Parent or a Pet Buddy, the associated personal data shall be scheduled for purging, subject at all times to overarching regulatory and statutory obligations, lawful retention requirements, the pendency of any dispute, investigation or proceeding, the Company's retention discretion, and the judicial mandates of the Republic of India. Final determination in respect of the disposition, retention or erasure of data rests with the Company and with the competent judiciary of the Republic of India. See Clause 17 of the Terms & Conditions.
9. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- correct anything inaccurate or incomplete;
- delete your account and the data associated with it, subject to records we must keep by law;
- stop sending you marketing messages;
- withdraw a consent you gave, such as location access.
Email info@petlifeindia.co and we will respond within 30 days. We may require authentication of your identity before acting, so that data is not disclosed to an impostor. These rights are exercisable subject to the retention obligations described in section 8.
10. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Our database tables are protected by row-level security so that the browser can never read them directly; form submissions pass through a server-side function that validates every field. Identity documents and résumés live in private storage with no public access. Access by our team is limited to those who need it.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board as required by law.
12. Children
Petlife is for adults. You must be 18 or over to create an account. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will notify you by email or in the app before they take effect.
14. Grievance Officer
In line with Indian law, you can raise a privacy complaint with our Grievance Officer, who will acknowledge it within 24 hours and resolve it within 30 days.
The Grievance Officer is identified by office rather than by personal name, so that a change of personnel never leaves a complaint without a valid destination. Correspondence addressed to the office below reaches the officer for the time being holding it.
